BIOGRAPHY

Tobias Hutzler is a renowned photographer, director and visual artist known for his consistently unique transformations of light and space. During his career he has taught at some of the most prestigious universities in Europe, the UK and the USA. He received his M.F.A. in the USA and received a Fulbright Fellowship as well as grants from the DAAD and the European Union. Companies such as Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Johns Hopkins and Aston Martin gave him the task of reinterpreting the future of technology and mobility in a visionary way. In his editorials for TIME and New York Times Magazine he has reported on celebrities from music, film and politics, such as the US President, Pope Francis, internationally known artists and the US presidential race. In addition to many international awards, he was named one of PDN's (Photo District News) 30 Outstanding Photographers to Watch. "His images are both coherent and full of surprises." wrote legendary cinematographer Elisabeth Biondi about Hutzler's work.

METHOD

“Visualizing the future is a journey through the terrain of questioning, where the compass proves to be more suitable than the map.” Tobias' approach is to translate realities and distill them, to go beyond the expected, to break free, and to show the true nature of the moment. This means taking a step back and, above all, asking questions rather than giving answers. How can technological achievements and the resulting benefits for people be communicated visually while also harmonizing with natural cycles?
